Today I performed an acoustic version of our song “Reaction” for Urban Rush in Vancouver, a Shaw television program that features guests from film, television, sports, food, fashion, music and pop culture. This was technically the first day of our tour, but since the band still had some last-minute preparations to take care of in Victoria, surprise surprise, we decided to do this simple, folky, stripped-down version of the song. Cody Beer and I caught the 9:00 am ferry and met up with our good friend Alfie, in Vancouver down at Shaw tower, where he entertained us with old stories from his days of working with some of the most raucous and ridiculous touring rock and roll bands in history while we waited in the green room. “Tell me more!” I beckoned like a little kid as make-up was put on my face and I tuned my guitar. Apparently, according to him and all of his experience, we are probably one of the most tame groups he’s ever had to work with, if you can believe that!
Here’s the video of the performance:
This was my first television performance, and I was happy to find that I was not a sweaty mess and nor did I look insanely awkward. It was an amazing opportunity and experience, and it was absolutely wonderful to meet everyone on the program. We can’t thank Urban Rush enough for having us be a feature on their show.
We will be spending the next couple of days in Vancouver rehearsing with our new friend Kiana Brasset, performing at the CBC, eating at “Meat and Bread,” visiting our friends at 100.5 The Peak and pouring our lives onto the internet while simultaneously being filthy and sitting around Cody’s apartment in our underwear, in our spare time, if we ever have any, like the nerds we’ve become and embraced. It’s what we do, and we love it.
